As a parent, we understand the concerns about sugar intake, especially for young children. That’s why we only add a minimal amount of sugar to our pancakes. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no added sugar for infants below the age of 2 years. Children at this age consume a smaller amount of food, hence food with added sugar should be kept to a minimum. For toddlers aged 2 years and older, the added sugar is limited to no more than 25 grams (5 teaspoons) per day.

We don’t add baking powder to our pancake mix, as it contains a substantial amount of sodium. Instead, we like to use whipped egg whites as a healthier alternative to make our pancakes fluffy. But, we leave it up to you to decide if you would like to add baking soda or baking powder to your pancake mix.
